Discover Bonchon Bolingbrook

Walking into Bonchon Bolingbrook at Bonchon, located at 635 E Boughton Rd Suite 150, Bolingbrook, IL 60440, United States, the first thing that hits you is the aroma-crispy, savory, and unmistakably Korean-style fried chicken. I’ve eaten my fair share of wings across Chicagoland, from old-school diners to modern gastropubs, and this spot consistently delivers a crunch that holds up from first bite to last. A server once explained their process while we waited for a to-go order: the chicken is double-fried, which is a traditional Korean method designed to render fat and seal in juiciness. That detail matters, because it explains why the skin shatters lightly instead of going greasy.

The menu keeps things focused, which I appreciate. You’ll see wings, drumsticks, strips, and combo meals, all offered with their signature sauces. The soy garlic is balanced and umami-forward, while the spicy option builds heat gradually instead of overwhelming your palate. I usually split a half-and-half order with friends so everyone gets variety, and it’s never been a regret. One night after a late meeting nearby, we grabbed dinner here and noticed how the chicken stayed crisp even after a 15-minute drive home-something food scientists often attribute to low-moisture batters and proper oil temperature control, a principle backed by culinary research from institutions like the Institute of Culinary Education.

Beyond chicken, there are Korean comfort sides that round out the meal. The pickled radish cuts through richness, and the fries are sturdy enough to handle sauce without turning soggy. When I brought my family in for a casual weekend dinner, my parents-who usually avoid fried food-ended up commenting on how light yet satisfying everything felt. That reaction lines up with nutrition studies showing that properly fried foods, when cooked at the right temperature, absorb less oil than people expect.

Service here tends to be quick and friendly, especially during lunch hours when locals swing by between errands. I’ve noticed a steady stream of repeat customers, which says a lot more than any sign on the door. Reviews around town often mention consistency, and that’s been my experience too. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the quality doesn’t dip. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, consistency is one of the top factors influencing repeat visits, and this place seems to understand that instinctively.

Location-wise, it’s easy to get to, with plenty of parking and nearby shops that make it convenient to bundle dinner with other plans. Friends visiting from out of state often ask to try something authentically Korean-inspired without feeling intimidated, and this restaurant fits that role perfectly. While it doesn’t claim to be a traditional Korean eatery, it does honor technique and flavor profiles in a way that feels respectful and approachable.

There are a few limitations worth noting. During peak dinner hours, wait times can stretch, and seating fills up fast. Also, the menu is intentionally narrow, so if you’re looking for soups or rice bowls, options are limited. Still, for what it sets out to do-serve crave-worthy fried chicken with bold sauces-it excels. When a place keeps me coming back after years of trying new spots, that’s usually my quiet signal that it’s doing something right.

  • The wife and I are in town for a wedding this weekend and were looking for a bite to eat- so glad we chose Bonchon! We ordered the wings and the fried rice with seafood. The wing had an amazing crunch on them and were very flavorful If you’re in Bolingbrook, check them out

  • I've only ever ordered online for pickup, and everything is always ready when I arrive. The food is soooo delicious!!! The chicken strips and wings are so flavorful (I love Soy Garlic, and Korean BBQ), and the Tteokbokki and Buldak are so good too! I highly recommend!! A bit pricey, but really delicious and flavorful food! I usually order several items, and have plenty left over to eat later.

  • This a good quick fix when it comes to the basics of Korean cuisine. This is my first time trying the fried chicken and it was not bad at all. Next time I hope to enjoy it on location, so it is nice and fresh! We ordered a bunch from this place including fried chicken, corn, pork belly plate that comes with rice, kimchi, and a friend egg. All great. They have a lot on the menu so I hope if I am ever in town or around another chain, I can try more. We got it delivered, and it came on time, and everything was intact and ready to eat.

  • My girlfriend and I decided to dine inside Bonchon at The Promenade in Bolingbrook on 11/4/2025. She was very hungry after a long workday on the outskirts of Chicago. When we arrived, we noticed this location used to be another restaurant we loved but no longer exists. It's nice to see Bonchon has taken its place. The ambiance was truly warm and inviting, making everyone feel comfortable. Subtle lighting. Plenty of space between tables for the robot servers to move around. The food was fantastic. We chose Korean Street Corn, Ten Wings (Classic Crunch) with pickled radish on the side, Bulgogi, Udon Noodles with Egg, and Korean Donuts with Sauce. Everything was delicious! Customer service was decent as the server came back to check how we were doing. We were happy with everything and look forward to visiting again soon.

  • Pick up order. The clear noodles tasted similar to pat see ew. Was good. I went with the recommendation on most ordered with the chicken/rice. Wasn’t exploding with flavor, but wasn’t gross. I’d word it as “ok” . For $16 each, it’s less than impressive.

  • Got the bibing baap, fried rice, and shrimp dumplings. The food was tasty but the quantity was less for the price, stingy portions of chicken in fried rice and not much rice (see photo) . The only vegetarian item is the bibing baap with tofu. It’s so easy to replace meat with tofu in other dishes but they dont do it. They forgot to serve corn appetizer we ordered which we later cancelled. Not happy with the service or food.
